I know that this posting is long overdue but better late than never.
We had a wonderfully long Thanksgiving weekend with friends and family in California. We are grateful for the time and terrific company.
We spent Wednesday visiting family around town and then had a relaxing lunch with the Mapstead’s. We all had a lot of fun watching the boys play together.
Thanksgiving Day was spent in Anza at William’s Great Aunt and Uncle’s home. It was wonderful to be with family and to see all of the second cousin’s interact with one another. It was pretty cold in Anza but the rain held off and William was able to play on the tractors, pet the horses, and to run in the yard with his cousin Hunter.
We spent Friday at the Palm Springs Tram, which was fun but a BIG mistake the day after Thanksgiving. It appeared that everyone in S. California had the same idea! Uncle David and the McMorran’s joined us for the fun and cold. There was snow at the top of the mountain and the kids LOVED every moment. It was a crazy day but well worth it.
The rest of the weekend was filled with family, Scrabble, and a lot of laughs.
William had his first real illness this week. It has been a terrifyingly long sleepless week in the McMorran house. William began to run a fever on Sunday which quickly shot to 105.1 but had no other symptoms of being sick. Monday morning we went straight to the doctor. The poor guy was poked and prodded but nothing was found. Monday night his fever again rose to 104.8…Then Tuesday, William would simply not stop screaming. The nurse advised us to go to the ER. At the ER, William was poked some more, had x-rays taken, and was given an IV for dehydration. We called William’s IV his robot arm. Still no answers other than maybe he had a viral infection. William’s fever finally broke on Wednesday and he slept most of the day. But again, when he wasn’t sleeping he was crying. Today (Thursday), he developed a rash from head to toe and we headed back to the Dr…the Dr. believes that William has Roseola Virus and all should be well by the weekend. We will keep our fingers crossed. But we thank God that William is alright. I’m sure this was just the first of many bugs and ER visits to come!
