Elmo and Friends - Weekend Report

The McMorran’s had our very first ‘down’ weekend in over two months. Mike and I say every December that in the coming year we will ‘slow it down’ but then every January we book ourselves up again. This year has been no exception. We have spent our February with family. As you know, we spent Superbowl with extended McMorran family here in Phoenix and then travelled the first part of the month to Texas to be with Mike’s siblings/families. We then came home to host Jenni’s family and close family friends. We’ve had a wonderful year so far; we love our families and are so grateful for those who make the effort to be a part of our lives. But, we were also very happy to have a weekend to ourselves. So happy in fact, that we jammed the entire weekend full of family time activities (I know, I know – we can’t stop ourselves).

Friday evening was spent just the 3 of us home playing ‘Rock Band’. Then Saturday morning we got up and headed to the Phoenix Children’s Museum. Elmo and Grover made a special appearance and William was in HEAVEN. We then happened along an Asian festival downtown and watched some amazing drumming. William was captivated by the sounds. Saturday evening we spent with family/friends playing (you guessed it) ‘Rock Band’. Then Sunday, we had a very special treat. Inflection HR (Mike and Sev’s company) took the entire office team, their families, and some special friends to the Sun’s basketball game against the Boston Celtics. Although the Sun’s lost, we had a great time with the group (I should have taken a group photo but forgot).

We awoke Monday morning feeling a bit beat up. We had a great weekend but maybe we’ll take it a bit slower in the coming weeks…maybe.

A Presidential Visit

It was announced over the weekend that President Obama was going to announce his housing plan here in Arizona. He spoke at Dobson High School which is less than a mile from our home. While we were unable to get tickets to his speech, William and I walked to DHS to see the Presidential motorcade on Wednesday morning. While the event was not exactly as I would have expected, it was a great opportunity for us both to experience. We were just sad that Mike was unable to join us.

William's Got the Beat

This is too funny not to share. I know that it is dark and fuzzy (we need a video camera; i know) but it is hillarious. William is dancing along with the Go-Go’s as his Aunt Brenna plays the song on Rock Band. It is very cute.

Meeting Owen

This past week/weekend we flew to northern Texas (Pottsboro to be exact) to meet our new nephew/cousin. Mr. Owen Robert Anderson was born on December 12th and is now 8 weeks old. We had a great time visiting with family, some old friends, and we even made some new ones along the way. William was very excited to fly in an airplane (although he had already flown 3 times prior this was the first time that he really got into it). He did a wonderful job riding quietly on the plane both there and home again.

We flew into Dallas on Wednesday, met our old friends Matt P and Amy for a late lunch and then headed north to Pottsboro after that. Our time at Kate and Sean’s was very relaxing and we were able to spend a lot of quality time with them, as well as, with Mike’s brother Dave and his wife Adele who live in San Francisco. Unfortunately, there was a little sickness in the air which kept us in the house quite a bit. But on Friday, everyone was feeling well enough to spend a day on the town. We drove into McKinney, and spent a few hours at the pottery store. The boys decorated a plate together and then we all had our own family projects. Sean also celebrated his 28th birthday that day so after we finished with our crafts we went to Sean’s favorite restaurant with friends to celebrate. Saturday evening was spent at Kate and Sean’s house with friends. Matt and Amy drove up from Dallas and Kate/Sean’s best friends (Jenn and Aaron) came over for dinner and a poker tournament. It was a lot of fun.

We had a wonderful time with our family and we miss them all very much. We only wish we all lived closer together*** Owen is a beautiful little boy and William cannot wait until he is old enough so that they can play together. Thanks guys for being such wonderful family, friends, and hosts. We love you all.

***meaning closer together on the west coast.

Super Bowl 2009

Here are some photos from Super Bowl Sunday. The Langley’s hosted a wonderful Super Bowl party and we all cheered on our Arizona Cardinals, unfortunately they did not win but we all had a great time. We have a wonderful group of family and friends here. William even ended the day with a black eye. What fun!
